How to Organize Messy Shortcuts on Your Desktop

Original Post by NewsLaptopComputer

Hello, my dear visitors

Before we start, I'm going to ask you to look at your current desktop

Is it mess?

awwww... Com' on, say the truth ;)

hehe... Alright, that's enough for greetings

Today we're going to modify your messy & boring shortcuts to make it looks nicer

We will install a nice bar to store your messy desktop shortcuts

I recommend you two softwares to response for this task:

1. Rocket Dock

Here is the description from its official website

RocketDock is a smoothly animated, alpha blended application launcher. It provides a nice clean interface to drop shortcuts on for easy access and organization. With each item completely customizable there is no end to what you can add and launch from the dock.
And a demo video here

Rocket Dock will make your Windows XP desktop look like desktop in MacOSX

As you can see on the top of desktop, that is Rocket Dock

You just drag all your shortcuts to the Rocket Dock bar, it will make a copy of that shortcuts on it, then remove those shortcuts from desktop.

You can download Rocket Dock for free at: http://www.punksoftware.com/rocketdock

2. Stardock's Object Dock

This is more likely the Rocket Dock, but you can insert more gadgets on the dock, such as weather forecast, calendar, clock, etc. It also provide an optional dock for more more shortcuts holds.

*remember that object dock isn't a freeware

From my own opinion, I think Rocket Dock is pretty large enough to store all shortcuts you have, also it consume less memories than StarDock, and last... downloading Rocket Dock is definitely FREE! So just try them and judge it yourself.

Congratulations! now I think we already got a nice-looking desktop without those messy shortcuts any more. Next time I'll bring you more details on how to manage themes. Visit me soon!
